What is it used for?
This medicine is used to treat certain bacterial and protozoal infections, including some intestinal infections that cause diarrhoea or dysentery. It should be used only when prescribed by a doctor.

How does it work?
Levofloxacin kills susceptible bacteria by blocking enzymes needed for their growth. Ornidazole damages the genetic material of certain protozoa and anaerobic bacteria, helping clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and complete the course, even if symptoms improve. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Keep antacids and supplements containing iron, calcium, magnesium or zinc at least 2 hours apart from this medicine. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 3 days after the last dose.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness and a metallic or unpleasant taste.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to levofloxacin, other quinolone antibiotics or ornidazole. Tell the doctor about kidney disease, seizures, heart rhythm problems, tendon problems, or nerve disorders, and if pregnant or breastfeeding. Stop the medicine and seek medical help for tendon pain or swelling, severe or persistent diarrhoea, numbness or tingling, severe dizziness, confusion, rash, breathing difficulty or an irregular heartbeat.
