What is it used for?
This prescription combination is used to help prevent heart attack, stroke and other serious blood-vessel problems in people with coronary artery disease or after certain heart events or procedures. It should be used only under medical supervision.

How does it work?
Atorvastatin lowers harmful cholesterol and helps reduce fatty build-up in blood vessels. Aspirin and clopidogrel reduce platelet clumping, helping prevent harmful blood clots.

How to take/use it
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day, with or without food unless advised otherwise. Do not stop aspirin or clopidogrel without medical advice. Do not take extra doses if one is missed; follow the prescriber's instructions.

Common side effects
Easy bruising or bleeding, indigestion, nausea, diarrhoea and headache may occur. Atorvastatin may cause muscle pain or weakness and changes in liver tests.

Precautions
Inform the doctor about stomach ulcers, bleeding problems, liver disease, kidney disease, planned surgery or dental treatment, and all other medicines being used. Seek urgent medical help for uncontrolled bleeding, black stools, vomiting blood, severe weakness, or unexplained severe muscle pain or dark urine. Avoid use during pregnancy unless specifically advised; atorvastatin is generally not used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid taking other aspirin-containing or blood-thinning medicines unless approved by a doctor.
