What is it used for?
This combination is prescribed to reduce the risk of blood clots, heart attack and stroke in people with established heart disease, including after a heart attack or coronary stent. Atorvastatin also lowers harmful cholesterol levels.

How does it work?
Atorvastatin reduces cholesterol production in the liver. Clopidogrel and aspirin make platelets less likely to stick together and form harmful blood clots.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day. Do not change the dose or stop clopidogrel or aspirin without medical advice, as this may increase the risk of a clot. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Easy bruising or bleeding, nosebleeds, indigestion, stomach discomfort, nausea, headache, and muscle aches or pain.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any history of stomach ulcers, bleeding problems, liver disease, kidney disease, asthma triggered by painkillers, or muscle problems. Inform the doctor or dentist before surgery or dental treatment. Seek urgent medical help for unusual or persistent bleeding, black stools, vomiting blood, severe muscle pain or weakness, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin or eyes. Avoid unnecessary medicines such as ibuprofen unless approved by a doctor. This medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless specifically advised by a doctor.
