What is it used for?
Losartan 25 mg is mainly used to treat high blood pressure. It may also be prescribed for heart failure or to help protect the kidneys in some people with diabetes, as advised by a doctor.

How does it work?
It blocks the action of a hormone called angiotensin II, which normally narrows blood vessels. This helps the blood vessels relax and lowers blood pressure.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet with water and do not stop it without medical advice. Regular blood pressure, kidney function and potassium checks may be recommended.

Common side effects
Dizziness, tiredness, headache, low blood pressure and increased potassium levels may occur.

Precautions
Do not use during pregnancy; contact a doctor promptly if pregnancy occurs. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver disease, dehydration, or previous swelling of the face, lips or tongue with blood-pressure medicines. Avoid potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised. Seek urgent help for severe swelling or difficulty breathing.
