What is it used for?
Losartan 50 mg is mainly used to treat high blood pressure. It may also be prescribed to help protect the kidneys in some people with diabetes and to reduce the risk of stroke in certain people with high blood pressure.

How does it work?
It blocks the action of a hormone that causes blood vessels to narrow. This helps the blood vessels relax, lowering blood pressure and reducing strain on the heart.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day, with or without food. Continue it regularly even if feeling well, and do not stop it without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, tiredness, low blood pressure, and stomach upset may occur. Blood potassium levels or kidney function may change.

Precautions
Do not use during pregnancy, especially after the first three months; inform the doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, dehydration, or use of potassium supplements, potassium-containing salt substitutes, or medicines that can affect the kidneys. Seek urgent medical help for swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing.
