What is it used for?
Acebrophylline 100 mg is used to help manage breathing problems such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It helps reduce airway narrowing and loosen thick mucus, making breathing easier. It is not usually used for the immediate relief of a sudden asthma attack.

How does it work?
It relaxes the muscles around the airways and helps reduce the thickness of mucus. This allows air to move more easily through the lungs.

How to take/use it
Take it by mouth exactly as prescribed. Swallow the tablet whole with water and do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. Continue to keep any prescribed rescue inhaler available for sudden breathing difficulty.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness, palpitations and difficulty sleeping may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is heart disease, an irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, liver or kidney problems, or a history of stomach ulcers. Seek medical help for severe palpitations, chest pain or worsening breathing difficulty. Tell the doctor about pregnancy, breastfeeding and all other medicines being taken. Do not take it if allergic to acebrophylline or similar medicines.
