What is it used for?
Acebrophylline 200 mg Sustained Release is used to help relieve breathing difficulty, wheezing and cough caused by asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It helps open the airways and loosen thick mucus.

How does it work?
It relaxes the muscles around the airways, helping them widen, and helps reduce the thickness of mucus so it can be cleared more easily.

How to take/use it
Take it only as prescribed. Swallow the sustained-release tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it. It is not meant for immediate relief during a sudden breathing attack—use the prescribed rescue inhaler if one has been provided.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness, restlessness, difficulty sleeping, tremor or a fast heartbeat may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about heart disease, high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, seizures, thyroid problems, or liver or kidney disease. Tell the doctor about all medicines being taken, especially other theophylline-containing medicines. Avoid taking more than prescribed and limit excessive caffeine, as this may increase side effects. Seek medical help for severe palpitations, persistent vomiting, seizures or worsening breathing difficulty. Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
