What is it used for?
This injection is used to treat serious bacterial infections, including infections of the lungs, abdomen, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, and other parts of the body. It does not treat viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
Meropenem kills susceptible bacteria by stopping them from building their protective cell wall. Sulbactam helps meropenem work against some bacteria that can otherwise resist certain antibiotics.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given into a vein by a doctor or nurse. The dose and treatment duration depend on the type and severity of infection and kidney function. Complete the prescribed course unless the treating doctor advises otherwise.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, headache, rash, and pain or inflammation at the injection site may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any allergy to meropenem, penicillins, cephalosporins or other antibiotics, kidney disease, seizures, or previous severe diarrhoea after antibiotic use. Seek urgent medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe rash, seizures, or persistent or bloody diarrhoea. Use only under medical supervision.
