MEROLINK-1000 (Meropenem 1Gm)

Description:

MEROLINK-1000 contains Meropenem, a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic used to treat severe bacterial infections. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive, Gram-negative and anaerobic bacteria. It is indicated for complicated intra-abdominal infections, meningitis, skin and soft tissue infections, complicated urinary tract infections, hospital-acquired pneumonia and septicemia. Meropenem works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to rapid bacterial death.

Precautions:

MEROLINK-1000 should be used only under medical supervision. Caution is advised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to beta-lactam antibiotics. Dose adjustments are required in patients with renal impairment; renal function should be monitored. Use cautiously in individuals with CNS disorders, as carbapenems may increase seizure risk, especially at high doses or with renal dysfunction. Concomitant use with valproic acid may reduce its levels and increase seizure risk. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding should be based on medical advice. Patients must inform the doctor of all other medications being taken to avoid interactions.

Adverse Effects:

Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, rash and injection site inflammation. Rare reactions include hypersensitivity, pruritus, liver enzyme elevation and blood cell count changes. Very rarely, seizures may occur, particularly in high-risk patients. Antibiotic-associated colitis due to Clostridium difficile can also occur.

Storage:

Store below 25°C, protected from moisture and light. Reconstitute with the provided WFI just before use. Use the prepared solution immediately or within the time specified in the product guidelines. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
