Methylergometrine Maleate IP 0.125 mg, Excipients: q.s.

Description:
Metherkem Tablet contains Methylergometrine, a semi-synthetic ergot alkaloid that acts directly on the smooth muscle of the uterus to increase tone, rate, and amplitude of rhythmic contractions. This uterotonic action helps in reducing postpartum hemorrhage and promoting uterine involution after delivery or abortion.

Warnings and Precautions:

For oral use only.

Should be used only under medical supervision.

Contraindicated in patients with hypertension, pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, heart disease, or peripheral vascular disorders.

Use with caution in patients with hepatic or renal impairment.

Avoid use during pregnancy (before delivery) due to risk of uterine tetany.

Discontinue immediately if signs of vasospasm, chest pain, or hypertension occur.

Avoid concurrent use with other vasoconstrictors or ergot alkaloids.

Use during lactation only if prescribed; small amounts may be excreted in breast milk.

Adverse Effects:

Common: Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness.

Occasional: Headache, transient hypertension, palpitations.

Rare: Vasospasm, chest pain, myocardial ischemia, allergic reactions.

Storage:

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light.

Keep tablets in the original blister pack until use.

Keep out of reach of children.
