What is it used for?
Methylergometrine maleate is used after childbirth or certain pregnancy-related procedures to help the uterus contract and control or prevent heavy bleeding caused by poor uterine contraction.

How does it work?
It increases the strength of uterine contractions, helping the uterus tighten and reduce bleeding.

How to take/use it
Use only as prescribed by a doctor, usually after childbirth or a pregnancy-related procedure. Do not use it during pregnancy unless specifically directed by a specialist. Do not self-medicate for heavy bleeding; seek urgent medical care.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, abdominal cramps and increased blood pressure.

Precautions
Do not use without medical advice if there is high blood pressure, pre-eclampsia or eclampsia, heart or blood-vessel disease, or a history of stroke. Seek urgent medical help for severe headache, chest pain, breathing difficulty, seizures, or very heavy or persistent bleeding.
