What is it used for?
Methylprednisolone sodium succinate injection is a corticosteroid used to quickly reduce severe inflammation and overactive immune reactions. It may be used for serious allergic, inflammatory, autoimmune and other conditions when treatment by injection is needed.

How does it work?
It acts like natural corticosteroid hormones and reduces inflammation and immune-system activity.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given by a doctor or nurse into a vein or muscle. The dose, route and treatment duration depend on the condition and must be decided by the treating doctor. It should not be self-administered.

Common side effects
Increased blood sugar, increased blood pressure, fluid retention, indigestion, mood changes, difficulty sleeping and increased susceptibility to infections may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about diabetes, high blood pressure, stomach ulcers, osteoporosis, mental health conditions, liver or kidney problems, or any current infection. Corticosteroids can mask signs of infection and may worsen some infections. Avoid live vaccines unless specifically advised.
