What is it used for?
Methylprednisolone succinate injection is used for the short-term treatment of severe inflammation and overactive immune or allergic reactions. It may be prescribed for serious inflammatory, autoimmune, allergic or respiratory conditions when a corticosteroid injection is needed.

How does it work?
It is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and suppresses excessive immune-system activity.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given by a doctor or nurse by injection. The dose, route and treatment duration depend on the condition and response to treatment. It should not be self-administered.

Common side effects
Increased blood sugar or blood pressure, stomach upset, difficulty sleeping, mood changes, increased appetite, fluid retention and pain or irritation at the injection site may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about diabetes, high blood pressure, stomach ulcers, osteoporosis, glaucoma, mental health problems or any current infection. Corticosteroids can reduce resistance to infection and may mask infection symptoms. Avoid live vaccines unless advised by a doctor. Do not stop prolonged treatment suddenly without medical advice.
