What is it used for?
Methylprednisolone is a corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation and suppress overactive immune responses. It may be prescribed for conditions such as severe allergies, asthma flare-ups, arthritis and autoimmune disorders.

How does it work?
It reduces the release of substances that cause inflammation and allergic or immune reactions.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually with food or milk to reduce stomach upset. The dose and treatment duration depend on the condition. Do not stop treatment suddenly without medical advice, especially after prolonged use.

Common side effects
Stomach upset, increased appetite, difficulty sleeping, mood changes, headache, fluid retention, increased blood sugar and increased blood pressure.

Precautions
Inform the doctor about diabetes, high blood pressure, stomach ulcers, osteoporosis, glaucoma, mental health conditions or any infection. Corticosteroids can reduce the body's ability to fight infections; avoid close contact with people who have contagious infections and seek medical advice for fever or other signs of infection. Ask the doctor before receiving vaccines. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice.
