What is it used for?
Metoclopramide 10 mg is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting. It may also be prescribed for certain stomach-emptying problems, such as delayed stomach emptying.

How does it work?
It blocks dopamine signals in the brain that trigger nausea and vomiting. It also helps food move more quickly from the stomach into the intestine.

How to take/use it
Take it only as prescribed by a doctor. Follow the prescribed dose and timing, and do not use it for longer than recommended. It may cause drowsiness, so avoid driving or operating machinery until its effect is known.

Common side effects
Drowsiness, tiredness, restlessness, headache, dizziness and diarrhoea.

Precautions
Do not take it without medical advice if there is stomach or intestinal blockage or bleeding, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, or a history of involuntary muscle movements caused by medicines. Avoid alcohol because it may increase drowsiness. Seek urgent medical help for uncontrolled movements, muscle stiffness, severe restlessness or unusual facial or tongue movements.
