Composition:
Each IV infusion contains Metronidazole 500 mg.

Description:
Metronidazole IV Injection is an antiprotozoal and antibacterial medication used to treat anaerobic bacterial infections and certain parasitic infections. It is commonly used in severe gastrointestinal infections, pelvic infections, postoperative infections and septicemia where IV therapy is required. It works by disrupting the DNA structure of microorganisms, leading to their death.

Precautions:
Use cautiously in patients with liver impairment as dose adjustment may be needed. Avoid alcohol during treatment due to possible disulfiram-like reaction. Use in pregnancy only if clearly indicated and avoid during first trimester unless essential. Monitor for neurological symptoms in long-term or high-dose therapy.

Adverse Effects:
Possible effects include nausea, metallic taste, headache, dizziness, abdominal discomfort, flushing, and thrombophlebitis at injection site. Rarely, peripheral neuropathy or allergic reactions may occur.

Storage:
Store at room temperature below 25°C, protected from light. Do not freeze. Use immediately after opening the infusion bottle or as per manufacturer instructions.
