What is it used for?
Used to relieve occasional constipation and make stools easier to pass.

How does it work?
Milk of magnesia draws water into the bowel to soften the stool and promote bowel movement. Liquid paraffin lubricates the stool and bowel, helping it pass more easily.

How to take/use it
Take by mouth exactly as directed on the product label or by a doctor or pharmacist. Do not take more than recommended or use it for a prolonged period without medical advice. Drink adequate fluids unless fluid restriction has been advised.

Common side effects
Loose stools or diarrhoea, abdominal cramps, bloating, nausea and stomach discomfort. Liquid paraffin may occasionally cause oily leakage from the rectum.

Precautions
Do not use it for severe or persistent abdominal pain, vomiting, or suspected bowel blockage unless advised by a doctor. Ask a doctor before use if there is kidney disease, difficulty swallowing, or ongoing constipation. Avoid prolonged or frequent use without medical advice, as it may cause fluid or electrolyte problems and reduce absorption of some nutrients or medicines. Seek medical advice if constipation does not improve or if there is blood in the stool.
