Composition:
MINOTECH Injection contains Minocycline Hydrochloride equivalent to Minocycline 100 mg, supplied as a sterile powder for reconstitution for intravenous use.
Description:
MINOTECH is a broad-spectrum tetracycline-class antibiotic used in the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms. It acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby preventing bacterial growth and multiplication. It is commonly indicated in severe respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, intra-abdominal infections, and infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms when other antibiotics are not suitable. The injectable formulation ensures rapid systemic availability in hospitalized patients.
Precautions:
The injection should be used only under medical supervision. Caution is advised in patients with liver impairment, renal dysfunction, or a history of hypersensitivity to tetracyclines. Prolonged use may result in superinfection, including fungal infections. It should be avoided during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and in children below 8 years of age due to the risk of tooth discoloration and effects on bone growth. Regular monitoring of liver and renal function is recommended during prolonged therapy.
Adverse Effects:
Patients may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, vertigo, or headache. Skin rash, photosensitivity, and pigmentation changes may occur with prolonged use. Rarely, hepatotoxicity, hypersensitivity reactions, or intracranial hypertension have been reported.
Storage:
Store the vial in a cool, dry place below 25°C, protected from light. Reconstituted solution should be used immediately or as directed by the manufacturer. Keep out of reach of children.
