What is it used for?
Moxifloxacin is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections. It does not work for viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It stops bacteria from making the genetic material they need to grow and survive.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Swallow the tablet with water, with or without food. Do not take it at the same time as antacids or supplements containing iron, calcium, magnesium or zinc; ask a pharmacist about suitable spacing.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, headache and dizziness.

Precautions
Use only on medical advice. Seek urgent medical help for tendon pain or swelling, numbness or tingling, severe or persistent diarrhoea, fainting or a fast/irregular heartbeat, or signs of a serious allergic reaction. Tell the doctor about heart-rhythm problems, tendon disorders, nerve problems, myasthenia gravis, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and all medicines being used.
