What is it used for?
Used mainly to relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny or blocked nose, and itchy or watery eyes. It may also be prescribed as part of treatment to help prevent asthma symptoms, but it does not provide quick relief during an asthma attack.

How does it work?
Montelukast blocks leukotrienes, chemicals that contribute to allergy and airway inflammation. Levocetirizine blocks histamine, which helps reduce common allergy symptoms.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor, at the recommended time, and do not take more than directed. Use it regularly if prescribed for prevention. Do not use it as a substitute for a fast-acting rescue inhaler.

Common side effects
Sleepiness or tiredness, headache, dry mouth, nausea, and stomach discomfort may occur.

Precautions
Levocetirizine may cause drowsiness; avoid driving or alcohol until its effect is known. Tell the doctor about kidney disease, liver disease, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Seek medical advice if unusual mood or behaviour changes, nightmares, anxiety, depression, or suicidal thoughts occur. Seek urgent help for breathing difficulty or swelling of the face, lips, or throat.
