What is it used for?
Mupirocin 2% is a topical antibiotic used to treat bacterial skin infections, including impetigo and infected minor cuts, wounds or scratches.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making essential proteins needed for their growth and survival.

How to take/use it
Use only on the skin and apply as directed by the doctor or product label. Clean and dry the affected area before use, wash hands before and after applying it, and avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and inside of the nose unless specifically prescribed for that use. Do not share the medicine or cover the area unless advised.

Common side effects
Mild burning, stinging, itching, redness, dryness or rash where it is applied.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to mupirocin or any ingredient. Stop using it and seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling or a widespread rash develops. Avoid prolonged or repeated use unless advised by a doctor. Seek medical advice if the infection worsens or does not improve as expected.
