Description

Napro-Tax (Paclitaxel) is a taxane-class chemotherapeutic agent used in the treatment of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, lung cancer, and AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma. It works by stabilizing microtubules, preventing cell division, and causing programmed cell death (apoptosis) in cancer cells.

Precautions

Use only under oncology supervision.
Premedication with corticosteroids and antihistamines is mandatory to reduce hypersensitivity reactions.
Regular monitoring of blood counts and liver function is required.
Avoid use in severe liver impairment.
Report numbness, shortness of breath, persistent fever, or severe fatigue immediately.
Avoid pregnancy and breastfeeding during therapy.
Do not receive live vaccines during treatment.

Adverse Effects

Neutropenia, anemia, low platelet count.
Hair loss.
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
Peripheral neuropathy (numbness, tingling).
Muscle or joint pain.
Mouth ulcers.
Rare: severe allergic reactions, heart rhythm disturbances, liver toxicity.
