What is it used for?
Nitroglycerin controlled-release medicine is used to prevent and reduce episodes of angina (chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart). It is not intended to provide quick relief during a sudden angina attack.

How does it work?
It widens the blood vessels, helping more blood reach the heart and reducing the heart’s workload and oxygen demand.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed. Swallow the controlled-release form whole; do not crush or chew it. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. For sudden or worsening chest pain, seek urgent medical care and use any prescribed fast-acting angina medicine as directed.

Common side effects
Headache, dizziness, flushing, weakness, nausea, and low blood pressure may occur. A fast heartbeat or fainting can also occur, especially if blood pressure falls.

Precautions
Do not use with sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, or other medicines for erectile dysfunction, or with riociguat, unless specifically approved by a doctor, as this can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure. Use caution with low blood pressure, dehydration, anaemia, or heart conditions. Avoid alcohol if it worsens dizziness or low blood pressure. Rise slowly and seek urgent help for severe or worsening chest pain, fainting, or breathing difficulty.
