What is it used for?
Ofloxacin 200 mg is a prescription antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, such as infections of the urinary tract, lungs, skin, or other parts of the body. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making and repairing their genetic material, which prevents the bacteria from growing and surviving.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and complete the recommended course, even if symptoms improve. Swallow with water. Do not take it at the same time as antacids or supplements containing iron, calcium, magnesium, or zinc; ask a doctor or pharmacist about the appropriate interval.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness, and sleep disturbance may occur.

Precautions
Use only on medical advice. Tell the doctor about allergy to ofloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics, kidney disease, heart-rhythm problems, seizures, tendon problems, nerve problems, or myasthenia gravis. Stop the medicine and seek medical help for tendon pain or swelling, numbness or burning sensations, severe mood or nerve symptoms, a severe skin rash, breathing difficulty, or persistent severe diarrhoea. Avoid driving if dizzy or affected by vision or nervous-system symptoms. Discuss use during pregnancy or breastfeeding with a doctor.
