What is it used for?
Ofloxacin 200 mg is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections. It does not work for viral infections such as the common cold or flu.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making the enzymes needed for their growth and reproduction, helping clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take it only as prescribed and complete the recommended course, even if symptoms improve. Swallow the tablet with water. Do not take it at the same time as antacids or supplements containing aluminium, magnesium, iron or zinc; follow the spacing instructions given by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness and difficulty sleeping.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to ofloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics. Seek medical help for tendon pain or swelling, severe or persistent diarrhoea, numbness or tingling, severe mood or nervous-system changes, rash, breathing difficulty or palpitations. Inform the doctor about kidney disease, tendon problems, seizures, myasthenia gravis, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid driving if dizzy or otherwise affected.
