What is it used for?
Ofloxacin 200 mg is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, such as infections of the urinary tract, respiratory system, skin and other tissues, when prescribed by a doctor. It does not work for viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making the enzymes they need to grow and multiply, helping clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, with a full glass of water, and complete the prescribed course even if symptoms improve. Do not take it at the same time as antacids or mineral supplements containing aluminium, magnesium, calcium, iron or zinc; follow the separation advice provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness and sleep disturbance.

Precautions
Use only on medical advice. Tell the doctor about kidney problems, seizures, heart rhythm problems, tendon disorders, diabetes or nerve problems, and all medicines being taken. Stop the medicine and seek medical help for tendon pain or swelling, numbness or tingling, severe mood or nerve-related symptoms, a fast or irregular heartbeat, severe diarrhoea, or signs of a serious allergic reaction. Avoid unnecessary strong sunlight. It is generally avoided during pregnancy, breastfeeding and in children unless specifically prescribed.
