What is it used for?
Used to treat certain bacterial infections when ofloxacin treatment by intravenous infusion is appropriate. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
Ofloxacin is an antibiotic that stops bacteria from making and repairing their genetic material, which prevents them from growing. Sodium chloride provides the infusion solution.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given into a vein by a healthcare professional. The dose and treatment duration depend on the type and severity of infection and kidney function. It should not be self-administered.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness, difficulty sleeping, and pain or irritation at the infusion site.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any allergy to ofloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics, kidney problems, heart rhythm problems, seizures, diabetes, or previous tendon problems caused by antibiotics. Avoid strenuous exercise and report tendon pain or swelling, numbness or tingling, severe diarrhoea, severe rash, breathing difficulty, or unusual palpitations promptly. Use during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or in children only when specifically prescribed.
