Composition:
Oflotas-Oz Tablet contains Ofloxacin 200 mg and Ornidazole 500 mg.

Description:
Oflotas-Oz Tablet is a combination antimicrobial medicine used in the treatment of mixed bacterial and protozoal infections, particularly of the gastrointestinal tract. Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase, leading to bacterial cell death, while Ornidazole is effective against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by disrupting DNA synthesis. This combination is commonly prescribed for acute diarrhea, dysentery, amoebiasis, giardiasis, and other susceptible infections, helping relieve symptoms such as abdominal pain, loose stools, and fever.

Precautions:
The tablet should be taken strictly as prescribed by a healthcare professional. Caution is advised in patients with liver or kidney impairment, a history of seizures, tendon disorders, or hypersensitivity to quinolones or nitroimidazole derivatives. Alcohol consumption should be avoided during and after treatment due to the risk of adverse reactions with ornidazole. Prolonged or unnecessary use may lead to antibiotic resistance. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be only on medical advice.

Adverse Effects:
Common adverse effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and metallic taste. Less commonly, skin rash, photosensitivity, or sleep disturbances may occur. Rare but serious effects include tendonitis, tendon rupture, allergic reactions, or neurological symptoms.
