What is it used for?
Ofloxacin 200 mg is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, such as urinary tract, respiratory, skin and other infections when prescribed by a doctor. It does not work for viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It stops bacteria from making the enzymes they need to grow and survive, helping clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, with water, and complete the prescribed course even if symptoms improve. Do not take it at the same time as antacids or supplements containing iron, calcium, magnesium or zinc; follow the timing advice provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, dizziness and difficulty sleeping.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to ofloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics. Seek medical help for tendon pain or swelling, numbness or tingling, severe mood or nervous-system changes, or severe or persistent diarrhoea. Use only on medical advice during pregnancy, breastfeeding, childhood, or in people with kidney disease, seizures, heart-rhythm problems or myasthenia gravis. Avoid driving if dizzy or if vision or alertness is affected.
