Description:
Okamet 500 Tablet contains Metformin, an oral antidiabetic medication belonging to the biguanide class.
It helps control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus by reducing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity.
It is often used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic drugs.

Warnings and Precautions:

Contraindicated in patients with renal impairment, severe liver disease, or metabolic acidosis (including lactic acidosis).

Avoid excessive alcohol intake as it increases the risk of lactic acidosis.

Regular monitoring of blood glucose and renal function is advised.

Inform your doctor before undergoing any contrast imaging procedure.

Adverse Effects:
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, metallic taste, and loss of appetite.
Rarely, lactic acidosis may occur, which is a serious condition requiring immediate medical attention.
