What is it used for?
Olmesartan medoxomil is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Controlling blood pressure helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and other complications.

How does it work?
It is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It relaxes and widens blood vessels, helping blood flow more easily and lowering blood pressure.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, with or without food, and try to take it at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet with water. Do not stop treatment without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, diarrhoea, nausea and tiredness may occur. Contact a doctor if side effects are severe or persistent.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, dehydration, or high potassium levels. Avoid potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes unless advised by a doctor. Do not use during pregnancy; contact a doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs. Seek urgent medical help for swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing. Blood pressure, kidney function and potassium levels may need monitoring.
