What is it used for?
Olmesartan medoxomil is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and other complications.

How does it work?
It blocks the action of angiotensin II, a substance that narrows blood vessels and raises blood pressure. This helps relax the blood vessels and lower blood pressure.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, with or without food, and preferably at the same time each day. Do not stop treatment or change the dose without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, diarrhoea, nausea and tiredness may occur. Contact a doctor if side effects are severe or persistent.

Precautions
Do not use during pregnancy; inform the doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, dehydration, or use of potassium supplements, potassium-containing salt substitutes, diuretics or other blood-pressure medicines. Medical monitoring may be needed for blood pressure, kidney function and potassium levels. Seek urgent medical help for swelling of the face, lips or tongue, or difficulty breathing.
