Ondansetron Hydrochloride IP equivalent to Ondansetron 4 mg

Description:

Ondanaus MD 4 Tablet is an orally disintegrating antiemetic that prevents and treats nausea and vomiting. Ondansetron is a selective 5‑HT₃ receptor antagonist that works by blocking serotonin at 5‑HT₃ receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone and gastrointestinal tract, thereby inhibiting the vomiting reflex.

It is indicated for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and post-operative recovery.

Warnings and Precautions:

For oral use only.

Place the orally disintegrating tablet on the tongue; it dissolves without water.

Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment or electrolyte disturbances (hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia).

Avoid in patients with known hypersensitivity to ondansetron.

May cause QT interval prolongation; use caution in patients with cardiac arrhythmias or heart disease.

Avoid concurrent use with apomorphine and other serotonergic drugs.

Not recommended for pregnant or lactating women unless prescribed.

Monitor for serotonin syndrome if used with other serotonergic medications.

Adverse Effects:

Common: Headache, constipation, diarrhea, flushing, dizziness.

Occasional: Drowsiness, transient visual disturbances.

Rare: QT prolongation, arrhythmias, serotonin syndrome, hypersensitivity reactions.

Storage:

Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light.

Keep the tablet in the original packaging until use.

Keep out of reach of children.
