What is it used for?
Ondansetron injection is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting, including those related to surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy. It is given when an injectable anti-nausea medicine is needed.

How does it work?
It blocks serotonin signals in the body that can trigger nausea and vomiting.

How to take/use it
This injection must be given by a doctor or nurse. The dose and timing depend on the cause of the nausea or vomiting, age and medical condition. Do not self-inject.

Common side effects
Headache, constipation, diarrhoea, dizziness, tiredness and flushing may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is a heart rhythm problem, low potassium or magnesium levels, liver disease, or an allergy to ondansetron. Seek urgent medical help for an irregular heartbeat, fainting, severe allergic reaction or unusual agitation with sweating, fever, muscle stiffness or diarrhoea.
