What is it used for?
Ondansetron is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting, including nausea and vomiting related to medical treatments or surgery.

How does it work?
It blocks serotonin signals in the body that can trigger nausea and vomiting.

How to take/use it
Use it exactly as prescribed and follow the instructions on the label. It may usually be taken with or without food. Do not take more than the recommended amount.

Common side effects
Headache, constipation, diarrhoea, tiredness, dizziness, or flushing may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is a history of heart rhythm problems, low potassium or magnesium levels, liver disease, or an allergy to ondansetron. It may affect heart rhythm and can rarely cause serious irregular heartbeat. Seek medical help for fainting, a fast or irregular heartbeat, swelling, breathing difficulty, or severe restlessness, sweating, fever, muscle stiffness, or confusion. Tell the doctor about all medicines being used, especially medicines that affect heart rhythm or serotonin levels.
