What is it used for?
This medicine is used to treat certain bacterial infections, such as infections of the throat, skin, urinary tract and respiratory tract, when prescribed by a doctor. It does not work for viral infections such as common colds or flu.

How does it work?
Cefadroxil is a cephalosporin antibiotic that kills susceptible bacteria by preventing them from forming their protective cell wall. The added lactic acid bacillus may help support the balance of beneficial bacteria in the gut.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and complete the full course, even if symptoms improve. Swallow with water; it may be taken with food if it causes stomach upset. Do not share leftover antibiotics or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain or indigestion may occur. Skin rash or other allergic reactions can occur.

Precautions
Do not use it if there has been a serious allergy to cefadroxil, other cephalosporins or penicillin-type antibiotics. Tell the doctor about kidney disease, previous antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and all other medicines being taken. Seek urgent medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe rash, or severe or persistent diarrhoea.
