What is it used for?
This combination is generally used, when prescribed, to treat certain bacterial or parasitic intestinal infections causing diarrhoea, dysentery, abdominal discomfort and gas or bloating.

How does it work?
Ofloxacin and metronidazole act against susceptible bacteria and parasites in the intestine. Simethicone helps break up gas bubbles and may relieve bloating and discomfort.

How to take/use it
Use only as prescribed by a doctor. Take the prescribed amount at the recommended times and complete the course, even if symptoms improve. Do not self-medicate or use leftover antibiotics.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness, metallic taste and gas may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about allergies to quinolone antibiotics or metronidazole, liver or kidney problems, seizure disorders, nerve problems, or a history of tendon problems. Avoid alcohol during treatment with metronidazole and for at least 48 hours after the last dose. Seek medical advice for tendon pain or swelling, numbness or tingling, severe dizziness, or persistent or bloody diarrhoea. Pregnant or breastfeeding patients should use it only on medical advice. Keep a gap from antacids or supplements containing iron, calcium, magnesium or zinc if advised by the doctor or pharmacist.
