What is it used for?
Used to treat certain mixed bacterial and protozoal infections of the digestive tract, including infectious diarrhoea and dysentery. It should be used only when prescribed by a healthcare professional.

How does it work?
Ofloxacin stops susceptible bacteria from multiplying. Ornidazole damages the genetic material of certain parasites and anaerobic bacteria, helping clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed and complete the recommended course. Swallow with water and do not take antacids or mineral supplements at the same time unless advised by a doctor or pharmacist. Do not self-medicate for diarrhoea.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness, and a metallic or unpleasant taste.

Precautions
Avoid if allergic to ofloxacin, other quinolone antibiotics, or ornidazole. Seek medical advice for tendon pain or swelling, numbness or tingling, severe dizziness, confusion, or seizures. Tell the doctor about pregnancy, breastfeeding, liver or kidney problems, seizures, or previous tendon problems. Avoid alcohol during treatment and follow the prescriber’s advice after the last dose. Use only under medical supervision in children and older adults.
