What is it used for?
Pantoprazole injection is used to reduce excess stomach acid. It is commonly used for acidity, heartburn, acid reflux and related conditions when treatment by injection is needed, such as when oral medicines cannot be taken.

How does it work?
It blocks the stomach’s acid-producing proton pumps, reducing the amount of acid made in the stomach.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given slowly into a vein by a doctor or nurse. The dose and duration depend on the medical condition and response to treatment. It should not be self-administered.

Common side effects
Headache, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort and irritation or pain at the injection site may occur.

Precautions
Inform the doctor about allergies to pantoprazole or other acid-reducing medicines, liver disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell the doctor about all medicines being used, especially medicines for HIV, blood thinners or high-dose methotrexate. Seek medical advice for severe or persistent diarrhoea, rash, breathing difficulty or signs of an allergic reaction.
