What is it used for?
Paracetamol is used to reduce fever and relieve mild to moderate pain, such as headache, toothache, muscle aches and body pain.

How does it work?
It works mainly in the brain to reduce the production of substances that cause pain and fever.

How to take/use it
Take by mouth exactly as directed on the label or by a doctor. Do not take more than the recommended amount, use it for longer than advised, or combine it with other medicines containing paracetamol.

Common side effects
Paracetamol is usually well tolerated when used as directed. Nausea, stomach discomfort or skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if there is liver disease, regular alcohol use, poor nutrition or use of other medicines. Taking too much can cause serious liver damage, even if there are no immediate symptoms. Seek urgent medical help after an overdose or if severe rash, swelling or breathing difficulty occurs.
