What is it used for?
Pregabalin is mainly used to relieve nerve pain caused by conditions such as diabetes, shingles or nerve injury. It is also used with other medicines to help control certain partial seizures.

How does it work?
It reduces the release of certain chemical signals in the nervous system, helping to calm overactive nerve activity and reduce nerve pain or seizures.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and swallow the capsule whole with water. It may be taken with or without food. Do not stop taking it suddenly without medical advice, as the dose may need to be reduced gradually.

Common side effects
Dizziness, sleepiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, swelling of the hands or feet, increased appetite and weight gain.

Precautions
Avoid driving or operating machinery until the effects are known. Avoid alcohol, as it can increase sleepiness and dizziness. Tell the doctor about kidney problems, breathing problems, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or use of opioids or other sedative medicines. Seek urgent medical help for facial or throat swelling, difficulty breathing, severe rash or thoughts of self-harm. Pregabalin may cause dependence in some people and should be used only as prescribed.
