What is it used for?
Sodium picosulphate is a stimulant laxative used for short-term relief of constipation.

How does it work?
It is activated in the colon and stimulates bowel movements. This helps increase the movement of stool through the intestine and makes it easier to pass.

How to take/use it
Take by mouth exactly as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. Measure the liquid carefully using a suitable measuring device. Do not take more than recommended or use it regularly without medical advice. Drink adequate fluids unless a doctor has advised otherwise.

Common side effects
Abdominal cramps, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, nausea and dehydration may occur.

Precautions
Do not use it for severe or unexplained abdominal pain, vomiting, suspected bowel blockage or severe dehydration without medical advice. Seek medical help if constipation continues, severe diarrhoea or worsening abdominal pain occurs. Prolonged or excessive use can disturb body salts and may make the bowel dependent on laxatives. Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy, in children, or if there is kidney or heart disease.
