What is it used for?
Sodium picosulphate is a stimulant laxative used for short-term relief of constipation and to help empty the bowel when specifically prescribed before certain medical procedures.

How does it work?
It stimulates the muscles of the large intestine and increases water in the bowel, helping soften stools and promote bowel movement.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as directed on the package or by a doctor, with water. Drink adequate fluids unless a doctor has advised fluid restriction. Do not use it for longer than recommended.

Common side effects
Abdominal cramps, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting. Excessive diarrhoea may cause dehydration or changes in body salts.

Precautions
Do not use without medical advice if there is severe or unexplained abdominal pain, vomiting, suspected bowel blockage, or severe dehydration. Avoid prolonged or frequent use, as it may disturb body salts. Seek medical advice if constipation persists, or if blood appears in the stool. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, children, and people with kidney or heart problems should seek medical advice before use.
