What is it used for?
Povidone iodine 5% solution is a topical antiseptic used to help prevent infection in minor cuts, grazes, superficial wounds and burns, and to disinfect skin when directed. Use only for the purpose and area stated on the product label.

How does it work?
It releases iodine, which kills or inhibits many bacteria, viruses and fungi on the skin.

How to take/use it
For external use only. Apply to clean, affected skin as directed on the product label or by a healthcare professional. Do not swallow, and avoid contact with the eyes.

Common side effects
Temporary skin irritation, redness, dryness or itching. Rarely, an allergic skin reaction may occur.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to povidone iodine or other iodine-containing products. Avoid use on large areas, deep or serious wounds, or for prolonged periods unless advised by a healthcare professional. Seek medical advice for severe irritation, worsening symptoms or signs of infection. Keep away from children and do not use in the eyes unless specifically labelled for ophthalmic use.
