Description:

Povikem Gargle is an antiseptic mouthwash and throat gargle containing Povidone-Iodine, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent.
It acts by gradual release of free iodine, which exhibits rapid and sustained activity against bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa in the oral cavity and oropharynx.
It is commonly used for oral hygiene, prevention of throat infections, management of pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and gingivitis, and for preoperative oral antisepsis.

Warnings and Precautions:

For oral use only; do not swallow.

Avoid contact with eyes.

Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to iodine or povidone.

Use cautiously in thyroid disorders.

Not recommended for prolonged use without medical supervision.

Pregnant or lactating women should use only if advised by a physician.

Keep out of reach of children.

Adverse Effects:

Common: Temporary discoloration of teeth or tongue, mild irritation of oral mucosa.

Occasional: Unpleasant taste, mild burning sensation.

Rare: Allergic reactions, including rash or swelling.

Very rare: Systemic absorption causing thyroid dysfunction with prolonged excessive use.

Storage:

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light.
