Povidone Iodine 5% w/w (available iodine 0.5% w/w) ,Ornidazole 1% w/w ,Ointment base: q.s.

Description:

Povikem-Oz Ointment is a broad-spectrum topical antimicrobial preparation combining Povidone Iodine and Ornidazole for enhanced wound care.

Povidone Iodine acts as an antiseptic, releasing free iodine to kill bacteria, fungi, viruses, spores, and protozoa.

Ornidazole is a nitroimidazole derivative with antibacterial and antiprotozoal activity, targeting anaerobic bacteria and protozoal infections.

This dual-action formulation is effective in preventing and treating infections in minor cuts, abrasions, burns, ulcers, surgical wounds, and skin lesions, promoting faster healing and reduced risk of infection.

Warnings and Precautions:

For external use only.

Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes.

Do not use in patients with allergy to iodine, povidone, or nitroimidazoles.

Use with caution in thyroid disorders or in patients on radioiodine therapy.

Prolonged or extensive application may result in systemic iodine absorption.

Discontinue if irritation, redness, or rash occurs.

Avoid applying on deep, large, or severe wounds without medical supervision.

Use during pregnancy or lactation only under medical advice.

Adverse Effects:

Common: Temporary brown discoloration of the skin, mild irritation.

Occasional: Itching or dryness at the application site.

Rare: Allergic contact dermatitis or hypersensitivity reaction.

Very rare: Systemic iodine absorption causing thyroid imbalance with prolonged use.

Storage:

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.

Keep the tube tightly closed after use.

Do not refrigerate or freeze.

Keep out of reach of children.
