What is it used for?
Rabeprazole is used to reduce excess stomach acid and treat acidity, heartburn and acid reflux (GERD). It may also be used to help heal or prevent acid-related stomach and intestinal ulcers.

How does it work?
It blocks acid-producing pumps in the stomach lining, reducing the amount of acid released into the stomach.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it. It is commonly taken before food, but follow the instructions on the prescription or package.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, stomach pain and gas.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any allergy to rabeprazole or similar medicines, liver disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and other medicines being used. Long-term use may require medical monitoring. Seek medical advice for difficulty swallowing, persistent vomiting, vomiting blood, black stools, severe or persistent diarrhoea, or unexplained weight loss.
