What is it used for?
Ranitidine injection reduces excess stomach acid. It may be used for acid reflux and heartburn, stomach or intestinal ulcers, and other acid-related conditions when an injection is needed.

How does it work?
It blocks histamine-2 (H2) receptors in the stomach, reducing the production of stomach acid.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given by injection by a doctor or nurse, usually when treatment by mouth is not suitable. Do not self-inject. The dose and duration depend on the condition and kidney function.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, abdominal discomfort, constipation or diarrhoea, and pain or irritation at the injection site.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, a history of acute porphyria, allergies to ranitidine or similar medicines, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and all other medicines being used. Seek urgent medical help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, severe rash, confusion, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.
