Description

Retronox is an oral minoxidil tablet used for hair growth stimulation in androgenetic alopecia, especially when topical minoxidil is not sufficient or tolerated. As a vasodilator, minoxidil opens potassium channels, improving blood flow to the hair follicles and prolonging the growth (anagen) phase of hair.

Precautions

Use only under medical supervision.

Monitor blood pressure regularly — risk of hypotension due to vasodilatory effect.

May cause fluid retention — monitor for signs of edema or weight gain.

Use cautiously if there is heart disease, pericardial effusion, or renal impairment.

Avoid sudden withdrawal — taper dose if stopping.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use only if clearly indicated and prescribed by a doctor.

Inform the doctor of all other antihypertensive or cardiac medications before starting.

Adverse Effects

Fluid retention (edema, swelling in ankles)

Rapid heartbeat (tachycardia)

Headache, dizziness

Hypertrichosis (excess hair growth) in unwanted areas

Pericardial effusion (rare, with long-term high doses)

Possible worsening of heart failure (in susceptible individuals)

Keep the container tightly closed and out of reach of children.
