What is it used for?
Used with a cholesterol-lowering diet to treat high cholesterol, especially high LDL (“bad”) cholesterol. It may be prescribed when a statin alone does not lower cholesterol enough and can help reduce the risk of heart-related problems in suitable patients.

How does it work?
Rosuvastatin reduces cholesterol production in the liver. Ezetimibe reduces the absorption of cholesterol from the intestine, so less cholesterol enters the bloodstream.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed and swallow the tablet whole with water. It may be taken with or without food. Do not stop treatment without medical advice, and follow the recommended diet and check-up schedule.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhoea, and muscle aches or weakness. Blood tests may show increased liver enzymes.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid problems, heavy alcohol use, or a history of muscle problems with cholesterol medicines. Report unexplained or severe muscle pain, tenderness, weakness, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin or eyes promptly. This medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell the doctor about all other medicines, as some may increase the risk of muscle-related side effects.
